MORE ABOUT MATT
What are your primary responsibilities at Forge 53°?
I handle everything from shipping and receiving, cutting materials, operating our CNC plasma table, to installing finished products. I’m involved in many day-to-day tasks around the shop.
How long have you been with Forge 53°, and what led you to join the company?
I’ve been with Forge 53° for almost 3 years. I met Mike and Jesse while skateboarding at McKernan Park. During a seasonal slowdown at my previous carpentry job, I had the chance to help out at Forge and never looked back.
What do you enjoy most about working at Forge 53°?
The team is great, and the projects are always cool. It’s an awesome mix of people and creativity that makes the job fun every day.
What are some of your hobbies or interests outside of work?
I love skateboarding, hockey (GO FLAMES!), listening to music, and spending time with my pets.
What’s a fun fact about you that most people don’t know?
I once split a puck in half with a slapshot. It may have been -30°C, but I’m pretty sure that’s beside the point!
What’s your favourite project you’ve worked on at Forge 53°?
Can I say the giant checker plate back-lit Wu-Tang Clan logo I made for my living room? That was definitely a highlight!
What’s your favourite book, movie, or TV show?
Seinfeld or It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Seinfeld is a classic, and Larry David is the best. It’s Always Sunny feels like a darker, crazier version of Seinfeld, which I love.
What is your favourite chip flavour?
Lay's Ketchup chips for life!
