MORE ABOUT MIKE

What are your primary responsibilities at Forge 53°?

I shape the strategic direction of the company, develop business systems, and lead process improvements across production and design. I also work on complex design projects and collaborate with the marketing team to refine our customer experience.

How long have you been with Forge 53°, and what led you to join the company?

I've been with Forge 53° since we started it at the end of 2014. Jesse and I wanted to make a big change and take control of our futures. We were tired of building things that would just get destroyed and wanted to create products that were celebrated and appreciated.

What’s a fun fact about you that most people don’t know?

I decided to become a teetotaler at the end of 2016, and it's been one of the best changes I've made. Not drinking has helped me bond with some awesome people who also don't drink. It's always cool to find that shared connection in unexpected places.

What are some of your hobbies or interests outside of work?

I like skateboarding, taking my dog for walks, and sketching concepts and designs. I also enjoy travelling and spending time with my partner and our puppy, Pretzel.

What do you enjoy most about working at Forge 53°?

I enjoy collaborating with clients and seeing how we can transform raw materials into something special. It's amazing to see our craftsmanship featured in photos or magazines. Building a legacy and creating pieces people interact with every day is very fulfilling.

What’s your favourite project you’ve worked on at Forge 53°?

One of my favourite projects is the Lumsden patio series. It's been a staple of our brand since 2018 and holds a special place in my heart. To show how much it means to me, I even have a tattoo of a Lumsden chair on my leg from a trip Vince and I took to Los Angeles. The Lumsden represents our dedication and perseverance, and it's incredible to see people cherish and celebrate it.
